Supporting Children Through Advocacy and Connection

Strong role models shaped Bob Freund’s commitment to giving. His mother, in particular, prioritized volunteer leadership in youth-serving organizations as she balanced long workdays and the responsibilities of raising four children. Inspired by his parents’ guidance and encouragement, Bob has intentionally supported organizations that offer young people a consistent, caring presence. That calling led him to Voices for Children, where he learned how CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers advocate for foster children by aligning schools, courts, medical and psychiatric professionals, and often both the birth and foster parents to not only meet each child’s needs, but help them believe in futures they thought were out of reach. Bob treasures the “front row seat” he has to the life-changing impact CASA volunteers make for foster children by affirming to each child: you matter, and I am here for you.

Bob also believes strongly in the power of nonprofit collaboration, deeming shared missions to be strongest when silos are reduced. Through the Jewish Community Foundation, Robert has found trusted partners who listen, connect him to aligned causes, and continually elevate community needs, making his philanthropy more thoughtful and more impactful.
