Learning Together, Strengthening Our Community On Wednesday, October 21, JPro San Diego’s Coworking Day offered a meaningful opportunity to step away from our individual organizations and come together as a community of Jewish professionals. We were grateful to partner with Jewish Women International (JWI) for a thoughtful lunch-and-learn focused on domestic violence awareness. As professionals serving our community, we are often trusted listeners and points of connection for those facing challenges. While responding to domestic violence may not be a formal responsibility in many of our roles, understanding the warning signs and knowing where to direct someone for support are important ways we can help. JWI shared valuable insights, practical tools, and resources that can empower us to better recognize and respond to situations where someone may be experiencing abuse. These conversations can be difficult, but they are essential to building safer, more supportive communities. This training also highlighted the far-reaching impact of community philanthropy. Two years ago, Jewish Community Foundation’s Jewish Teen Foundation (JTF) supported efforts to prevent domestic violence, address gender-based violence, and strengthen support systems for women and girls. By choosing domestic violence as a grantmaking focus, JTF’s teens sent a clear message about what matters to them. As part of their commitment, JTF awarded a $7,500 grant to JWI in support of this work. It was especially meaningful to see that investment come full circle through a training that equipped local Jewish professionals with knowledge and resources to better serve our community. Beyond the training itself, one of the most valuable aspects of the day was the opportunity to learn alongside colleagues from across San Diego’s Jewish community. The thoughtful questions, shared experiences, and spirit of collaboration were reminders that we are strongest when we come together, learn from one another, and remain committed to supporting those around us. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to JWI for leading such an important conversation. We look forward to continuing to learn, connect, and grow together as a professional community.
