Pauline Foster Tzedakah has long been a tradition in my family. Starting with my father’s father, who never turned anyone away when they came to his door asking for help. As a child growing up in San Diego, I can remember my Mother helping to resettle refugees from the war. I have always felt it a privilege to help others in need and to help build the Jewish community. The Federation has been the training ground for leadership, which benefits the entire community, Jewish and non-Jewish. The empowerment of women was recognized early in its history and women have played a vital role in the growth and shaping of Jewish life. Endowing my gift is my way of making sure these traditions continue, for my children and grandchildren and their children.
