Measurement of results and the use of assessment tools are critical, integral elements of the GLI program. The following evaluation tools and processes will be part of GLI and the learning process:
1. Organizational Self Assessment
At the beginning of the GLI program, participants’ boards and professional staff members will complete an Organizational Self Assessment (OSA) questionnaire to determine an individual baseline regarding board education, competence and compliance with best practices. The questionnaire includes questions on board, management, financial and development concerns, strategic planning, working partnerships between board and professional staff, and human resources. The OSA will be treated with utmost confidentiality; outside consultants will tally the results.
2. Overall Jewish Community Assessment
The Foundation will take the results of the Organizational Self Assessments and will find common ground among the participating organizations. This will reveal where our strengths and weaknesses lie as a Jewish community as a whole and will help the Foundation refine the GLI curriculum and resources.
3. Governance Action Plan
Organizations will write a Governance Action Plan that includes a timeline for accomplishing each goal. The plan will set forth how organizations will address the challenges that surfaced from the OSA. Organizations will measure their own improvement toward goals.
